Research Partnerships

Centre for Marine Biodiversity - BIO staff are involved in several of the Centre for Marine Biodiversity's projects as well as participating on the Centre for Marine Biodiversity's Technical committee. The mandate of the centre is to provide a focus for structuring independent research efforts toward an overall synthesis of information on marine biodiversity.

Coastal and Ocean Information Network Atlantic - BIO is one of many data providers to the Coastal and Ocean Information Network Atlantic; which is working to provide open access to data, information and applications relevant to Atlantic Canada.

Fishermen and Scientist Research Society - BIO staff are actively involved in the Fishermen and Scientist Research Society partnership between fishermen and scientists. The Fishermen and Scientist Research Society's objective is to establish and maintain a network of fishermen and scientific personnel that are concerned with the long-term sustainability of the marine fishing industry in the Atlantic Region.

Ocean Biogeographic Information System, Canada - BIO is the data distribution point for the Ocean Biogeographic Information System, Canada, as well as one of its several data providers. The Ocean Biogeographic Information System, Canada, is a regional node of the Ocean Biogeographic Information System, which is an evolving strategic alliance of people and organizations sharing a vision to make marine biogeographic data, from all over the world, freely available over the World Wide Web.

Ocean Tracking Network - BIO is one of many International Partners involved in the Ocean Tracking Network Project. The Ocean Tracking Network is an international project, run from Dalhousie University, that will change how scientists and world leaders understand and manage pressing global concerns, such as fisheries management, in the face of climate change.
